identity mosaic: family as a pillar, 2023

This piece represents the layered and multifaceted nature of self-identity. In this portrait, I used various styles and filters of the same image, cutting and reassembling them to form a mosaic-like composition. Each fragment reflects a different aspect of who I am, piecing together the complexities of identity.
In the background stands a pillar, into which I embedded cut-out pictures of my family. By placing these images within the pillar's crevices, I signify the role my family plays as a foundation in my life, supporting and holding me up. This work explores the interplay between personal identity and the grounding influence of family, illustrating how both elements shape and reinforce one another.
